Can Benzoyl Peroxide Remove Acne in 2 Days?
No, benzoyl peroxide cannot usually clear acne completely in just two days. While you may notice that a pimple looks less red or swollen after using an acne treatment, proper acne clearing takes considerably longer. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends giving acne treatments time to work, with improvement often becoming noticeable after 4–8 weeks.
Benzoyl peroxide helps treat acne by reducing acne-causing bacteria and helping prevent blocked pores. It is particularly useful for inflammatory pimples and is a well-established treatment for mild to moderate acne.
A 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product can be a good starting point, particularly if you’re concerned about irritation. Using more of the product will not make acne disappear faster and can instead cause dryness, peeling or irritation.
For Kenyan skin, consistency is more important than trying to get overnight results. Give your routine several weeks to work, moisturise appropriately, and avoid picking or squeezing pimples, which can increase the risk of scarring and dark marks.
If your acne is painful, severe or isn’t improving after consistent treatment, consider speaking with a dermatologist.
